Russia has been feeling the K-Pop wave for some time now thanks to the development of the Internet, but the wave seems to have gotten stronger as of late, as they’re now focusing their efforts on bringing K-Pop stars straight to their doorsteps.
On September 13, Yang Min Jong, the director of the Korean Cultural Center in Russia, revealed, “On September 6, the “K-Pop Cover Dance Festival” was held in Moscow. Ever since then, Muz-TV, a channel that focuses on music and entertainment news in Russia, along with other concert sponsors, has been making visits to the center asking for information on a number of Korean idol stars. They’ve even made digital music contracts as well as invite them to perform in Russia.”
Muz-TV revealed that if contracts worked out, they would be showing K-Pop music weekly. The channel held an online survey at the end of August to see which groups were the most popular.
Survey results showed that Big Bang, SHINee, Super Junior, DBSK, the Wonder Girls, JYJ, SNSD, BEAST, and 2NE1 were the hottest idols among the youth.
OnStyle‘s ‘Style Magazine‘ recently went behind-the-scenes of G-Dragon‘s fashion photoshoot and interviewed the star on fashion trends and fashionistas.
K-Star News reveals how expensive idols are in their broadcast.
SBS E!TV’s K-Star News, which will air on September 16, the idol with the most income will be revealed. It attracts much attention since it will analyze the idols’ income including their pay from commercials.
Kang Ho Dong’s retirement has been an issue in the entertainment world. After he has been charged of evading huge amount of taxes, many people are paying attention to other celebrities’ income.
To promote the movie, Mr. Idol, starring Ji Hyun Woo and Jay Park, a survey was recently conducted asking netizens: “Which idol group should be nervous if ‘Mister Children’ (the fictional idol group in the movie) debuts in real life?”
In the survey, BIGBANG ranked first. According to the voters, BIGBANG is very much like “Mister Children” because members of both groups write their own lyrics and music and can perform songs in various genres. Mister Children’s leader, Eu Jin (played by Ji Hyun Woo) is also being compared to Big Bang’s leader, G-Dragon.
Aside from Eu Jin, dancer Zio (played by Jay Park), vocal Hyun Ee (played by Jang Su Won) and rapper Rickey are attracting attention as well.
“Mr. Idol” will hit theaters in October!
