Jay Park talks about the influence his mom had on his career

Jay Park revealed that he’s the star he is today because of his supportive family.
On November 10th’s episode of tvN‘s ‘Talk Show Taxi’, Jay Park revealed his honest thoughts on a variety of topics ranging from his journey to Korea to become a trainee, his time as the leader of 2PM, and his current solo career.
Jay revealed that although he had liked to dance and rap, he previously had no intention of becoming a singer. Seeing his talent, his mom had been the one who encouraged him to audition. He stated, “It’s all thanks to my mom that I’m currently active as a singer.”

He continued, “My family was the driving force behind my ability to withstand those harsh trainee days. I thought that if I just gave up and went back to the U.S., I’d be embarrassed in front of my mom and myself.”

Although he possesses the looks and the body that many are jealous of, Jay revealed that his height was one of his complexes. “I’m jealous of those who are tall,” he said.

Leeteuk, Park Shin Hye and Doojoon to host ’2011 Melon Music Awards’

The ‘2011 Melon Music Awards‘ have announced that they’ve enlisted Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, actress Park Shin Hye, and B2ST‘s Doojoon to be the hosts for this year’s ceremony.

The three were chosen because of their influence in spreading the Hallyu wave. Super Junior has been receiving a lot of love in Europe and Asia, while B2ST will be starting their concert tour in Southeast Asia in December. Meanwhile, Park Shin Hye was recently cast for a Taiwanese drama called ‘Whirlwind District Office 1‘.

A representative from the ’2011 Melon Music Awards’ stated, “More so than previous years, 2011′s Melon Music Awards will focus on being a music show and a professional awards show. We plan on showing a lot of impressive stages and performances. We’re looking forward to the awards attracting a global audience, as the hosts themselves attracted a global interest through the Hallyu wave.”

Previous ‘Melon Music Awards’ hosts included Jang Geun Suk for the first ceremony and Song Joong Ki for the second.

Bang Yong Gook to make a comeback through a unit group

TS Entertainment has revealed to allkpop that Bang Yong Gook will be making a comeback through a unit group!

The rapper, who’s already built a solid fanbase after releasing “I Remember” with B2ST‘s Yoseob and “Going Crazy“ with SECRET‘s Song Ji Eun, will be starting promotions soon with an unnamed member of his yet-to-debut group. It will not be with fellow member Kim Himchan (21), who is currently MCing MTV’s ‘The Show‘.

So far, no information has been revealed about this third member in his group except that he’ll be the youngest of the three. Bang Yong Gook hinted to fans earlier that he was working on a fun new project directed especially to his student fans, but again, he was mum about revealing details. Whatever he’s scheming, expectations are high and fans are eagerly anticipating his comeback.

In the past, solo artists would join idol groups after establishing their own name, like in the case with B2ST‘s Lee Kikwang who debuted as a solo artist under the stage name ‘AJ‘ before joining B2ST. There are very few instances where members would promote as a unit before debuting with an entire group.
