Former Super Junior member Hankyung has been recently rumored to be dating Chinese actress Jiang Kai Tong who is five years his junior, but now netizens are speculating that the two will soon be getting married.
Big Bang‘s G-Dragon opened up regarding his dating rumors.
On the February 20th episode of SBS ‘Healing Camp‘, G-Dragon was targeted as the Big Bang member who evoked the most dating rumors.
“I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t meet anyone,” he said. “But when I do, I try to do it in secret because it can really cause harm to the other person.”
MC Kim Jae Dong then asked, “By saying it would cause harm to the other person, are you saying that this person is also someone in the industry?”, to which G-Dragon responded, “That’s something only I know,” evoking curiosity amongst viewers.
On February 20, Big Bang appeared on SBS “Healing Camp” and addressed questions that many fans have been waiting to ask. G-Dragon and Daesung, in particular, opened up about their respective incidents that were some of the most talked-about issues in all of K-Pop last year.
G-Dragon started off with his marijuana scandal, explaining, “I think it all started when I took a puff off of a cigarette from someone I didn’t know at the after-party in Japan in May, 2011.”
“I believe it would be very hard for many people, including myself, to understand the situation. First of all, it was a party we hosted, and I was really drunk at the time. It was a cigarette given by someone invited to the party, so I didn’t think it was right to reject the offer. Since we were the host, I just took the cigarette and took a puff. I should have been more careful as a celebrity, but it was all my fault,” he added.
He was questioned, “Don’t marijuana and regular tobacco smell different?” But G-Dragon answered, “I was really drunk, and I think I believed it to be a really dark cigarette or cigar. I’ve never been exposed to marijuana so I don’t even know what it smells like.” He was also asked if he couldn’t just tell the difference by the looks of it, but he said, “It wasn’t just impossible to tell the difference, and I’m a smoker, but it looked exactly like the cigarettes I smoke.”
“At some point in time, the word of KPOP increased dramatically in our office branches around the world. We confirmed KPOP’s potential for growth, and during that time, we took note of Big Bang‘s talents. Big Bang has the greatest talents in order to be fit to be a global artist.”
Global entertainment and concert production company Live Nation‘s Mats Brandt, President of Live Nation Far East, expressed big anticipation for their upcoming world tour with Big Bang. Recently visiting Korea for business, he discussed Big Bang as he met with OSEN at Seoul Shindorim Sheraton Hotel, emphasizing that they will apply the same process in planning Big Bang’s world tour as they did with that of Lady Gaga.
Starting in March, Live Nation will carry out Big Bang’s 16 country world tour “BIGBANG ALIVE TOUR 2012” in cooperation with YG. It is the first time that the global entertainment company will directly manage a world tour.
Q: How did you end up gaining interest in KPOP?
At the headquarters, we first heard of it from 4 years ago when we visited Korea for market research. From that, we saw the potential of Korean artists. For the next 3 years, we were concerned about it, but starting last year it progressed very quickly. At Live Nation, information is shared through our [global] branches, and news of KPOP increased dramatically. I began visiting Korea a year ago, and after that I’ve been visiting once a month.
Interviewer: What is BIGBANG to you?
Taeyang: I got the same question before. My answer will always be the same. Big Bang is a tree and I’m just a branch. When we are together as five, we make a big tree which has many leaves and fruits.
Interviewer: You guys had a hard time last year.
Taeyang: Last year was a new beginning to us. I heard that many groups have their hard times after 5 years, last year was ours. For us, it was not because of an argument but something from the outside. On the other hand, I’m thankful. It gave us a chance of making us live longer and stronger.
Interviewer: What makes Big Bang one?
Taeyang: Music. Our characters are so different. It gives the team a fatal blow because each has a very strong personality. However, we all like music, performing on the stage, dancing and singing together. We don’t argue whatever comes to us. We are always doing music happily and that makes us one.
Interviewer: You guys are the focus of attention but attention can be changed to indifference.
Taeyang: It is true that people’s interest and love make us work harder but even if the circumstances change, we want to do music together. I really love being on the stage. I want to tell you to just watch us grow up, especially this year. Love our music once again. I don’t mean that buy our albums but rather watch our development, our growth.
If you were to create a girl group hierarchy chart, who would be your top pick?
According to a hierarchy chart that’s been quickly spreading online, Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 are the undisputed top two picks. This chart, dated February, 2012, covers 16 of the top girl groups and ranks them in order by five different categories, such as “Wall You Can’t Go Over (unbeatable, basically),” “Nationwide level,” “Socialite level,” “Mania level,” “the Maginot line.”
The top “Wall You Can’t Go Over” category is rounded out by Girls’ Generation at #1 and 2NE1 at #2. Closely following them in the “Nationwide level” are T-ara at third, the Wonder Girls and Kara at fourth, and f(x) at fifth. This shows the girl groups popular in Japan ranking higher than the Wonder Girls, who’s mostly spent their time in the U.S. lately.
The next category, “Socialite level,” is comprised of Secret and SISTAR at the same level, followed by 4minute. After School is ranked slightly above the “Mania level,” with A Pink, Girls’ Day, Rainbow, and Dal Shabet trailing them to complete the “The Maginot line.”
World renown hip hop producer Swizz Beatz expressed his hopes to one day see a collaboration between Rihanna and 2NE1.
