It looks like the year 2012 will be bombarded with a horde of new boy group rookies as DSP Media has revealed their plans to release their new boy group, DSP Boyz which will consist of 7 members. Earlier today they released the program’s CF, now we have an even longer preview.
DSP Media who once managed SS501, will be releasing their first boy group in five years. The label’s new group, DSP Boyz will be revealed to the public for the first time through MBC‘s ‘Making the Star- DSP Boyz‘ and the first teaser for this upcoming reality TV show has just been released today, through DSP’s official Youtube channel!.
Although this group’s stand-in name has been revealed as ‘DSP Boyz’, the full release of the member’s individual profiles and official group name will be released simultaneously in the future.
DSP shared, “We’ve prepared them [DSP Boyz] so that they would successfully portray and support DSP’s strong reputation while staying committed to the basic expectations of an idol group. I think these boys will continue our long tradition of successful boy bands like Sechs Kies, Click-B, and SS501 who were all managed under DSP“.
A photo of Big Bang‘s T.O.P in Japan was recently uploaded to a Korean community site with the caption, “T.O.P got married in Japan?”
In the photo, T.O.P was carrying a lady on his back with MBC‘s filming crew around them. Because of the photo, netizens are speculating that T.O.P is the latest idol that will be added to We Got Married‘s roster.
Many are also wondering who is the lucky celebrity that got paired with T.O.P.

ZE:A‘s Siwan has been confirmed as a cast member of MBC‘s new daily sitcom, ‘Standby‘!
‘Standby’ is just the tentative title for the drama, and the full line-up of actors and actresses have just completed their first script reading together. The drama itself is about a fictional broadcast network called ‘TV11‘, and follows the lives of its staff and employees. Viewers will be able to experience the lives of entertainment industry professionals such as producers, writers, and announcers as they go through love and hardships in a realistic, but comedic light.
Im Siwan’s specific role is a high school student by the same name, who not only has perfect grades, but also handsome looks and talent to boot. Having virtually everything at his will, he acts rather indifferently to everyone around him.
Siwan has been in previous drama endeavors such as MBC’s ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun‘ and ‘The Equator Man‘. He’s certainly broadening his range of experience from historical to comedy, so the spotlight is certainly on him to see how he’ll fare.

Actress Kim Yoo Jung, who has publicly admitted to being a fan of Big Bang‘s T.O.P, displayed her deep affection for the sexy rapper yet again for Valentine’s Day.
Kim Yoo Jung recently guest-featured on the February 14th Valentine’s Day special of MBC FM4U ‘Hur Soo Kyung’s Music Village‘.
When a listener called in and guessed that Yoo Jung would most likely pick T.O.P as the idol she would give chocolates to this Valentine’s Day, Kim Yoo Jung did not deny it for a second.
“I like Big Bang a lot,” she said. “I would actually like to gift all the members with chocolate, not just T.O.P.”
The seven boys of talented hip-hop group Block B made their return on the February 4th edition of MBC‘s Music Core with a performance of “Nanrina” from their second mini-album titled ‘Welcome to the Block‘. Fans would normally be happy about this but many Block B fans were angered over their perceived mistreatment of the boys.
Block B opened the show on Music Core, and some fans took this as an insult because Block B is a hot group making their return and usually the opening of the show is reserved for lesser known artists. Additionally, fans didn’t like the fact that the important dance routine from the beginning of “Nanrina” was cut out. After the broadcast was over, many netizens immediately took to online message boards and utilized SNS to share their angry thoughts.
Netizens commented, “I was so surprised that they cut out the most important dance part. I was also really upset that they put Block B first over the lesser known artists,” and “The cameramen didn’t even properly capture the members performance.”
Block B has showed power and compelling choreography through “Nanrina”. Member Zico also had a huge influence by producing 5 of the 6 tracks on their new mini album.
MBC‘s ‘We Got Married‘ will be advancing into China!
MBC’s Hallyu content production team revealed that the Chinese version of ‘We Got Married’ is currently in production with a tentative air date beginning in February! The program will begin with two pilot episodes, and further development will depend on its success with the viewers.
T-ara‘s Hyomin and Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun have been the first to be cast for the Chinese version of the popular variety show. Hyomin will become a couple with Chinese idol group BoBo‘s Fu Xinbo while Kyuhyun will be coupling up with actress Lou Yi Xiao.
There will be a total of three couples; the final couple will be made up of famous Chinese actors and actresses. MBC representatives revealed, “MBC and Shanghai Media Group (SMG) will be co-producing the project. If there’s a positive response to the pilot program, we’ll develop the format.”
4minute‘s Kwon Sohyun expressed her desire to be featured on the popular MBC variety program, ‘We Got Married‘.
At the ‘4th annual Idol Star Athletics & Swimming Championships‘ that aired on January 24th, Sohyun held a brief interview with MC Leeteuk before her 50m dash.
“I heard you wanted to be on ‘We Got Married‘,” Leeteuk said to her. “Yeah, I really want to but they said I couldn’t because I was a minor,” she explained.
Leeteuk followed up by asking, “Is there anyone here at the Championships that you would like to be coupled with?”
MBC has brought back their popular holiday special, ‘Idol Star Athletics & Swimming Championships‘, for the 2012 Lunar New Year!
Many exciting TV Programs are scheduled for the Lunar New Year holiday and each major broadcasting station will be airing specials featuring idol stars. If you can’t spend the holidays with family and loved ones, then the TV can substitute and bring you laughs.

MBC will be hosting ‘The 4th Idol Star Athletics-Swimming Championship’. Hosting the program will be Kim Jae Dong, Boom, Lee Teuk, and anchorman Oh Sang Jin and many idols stars will be participating in the championships such as B2ST, T-ara, 4Minute, MBLAQ, Boyfriend, and Dal Shabet. Be sure to catch these idol stars competing against each other in games of athletics on January 24th.
Idol stars will also be appearing on MBC’s ‘Idol Alkkagi Championships’. The MCs for this program will be occupied by Kim Gura, Boom, and anchorman Kim Jung Geun. Idols like Super Junior, SHINee, SISTAR, and miss A will be participating in the program along with first generation old school idols like HOT’s Moon Hee Jun and Tony An and Roo’ra’s Go Young Wook.
B1A4’s Shin Woo confesses that f(x)’s Krytal is his ideal type and he loves her.
On January 14, MBC’s Weekly Idol-“Idol Of The Week” airs a special feature for the Lunar New Year. B1A4 appears in the episode, and Shin Woo, in particular, reveals that he is a big fan of f(x)’s Krytal and leaves a message to her on the broadcast.
He says boldly, “I’d like to have a meal with you someday. I’m a big fan of yours. I love you.” To his expectant, but bold confession, other members seem to be shocked.
But soon, they become encouraged by his bold confession and reveal their ideal type, SNSD’s Yoona, Taeyeon, and Miss A’s Suzy, appealing with their rookie image.
Following Hyorin and Sung Min, it looks like the second couple on MBC’s “Exciting Shake” is MBLAQ’s Lee Joon and After School’s Lizzy.
On January 5, local media reported the two as the second couple, quoting the training coach who appeared on the show with them. The trainer said, “Today, After School’s Lizzy and MBLAQ’s Lee Joon completed the intense filming session,” affirming their appearance on the show.
So far, the only other couple we’re aware of is Hyorin and Sung Min. Other female casts on the show include Kara’s Han Seung Yeon and Secret’s Han Sun Hwa. The rest of the male counterparts are unknown at this point.
MBC “Exciting Shake” is supposed to be a spin-off of the highly popular reality show, “We Got Married.” The couples will compete in different contests and performances, and eventually build a dating relationship.
The top stars gathered for the 2011 MBC Drama Awards, but the greatest honor went to none other than actor Cha Seung Won and actress Gong Hyo Jin for their roles in ‘The Greatest Love‘.
With actor Jung Il Woo in the midst of finalizing his casting for MBC‘s new drama, ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun‘, the cast dove into their first script reading.
On December 26th, a representative stated, “On Christmas day, Han Ga In, Kim Soo Hyun, and Jung Il Woo held their first script reading at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan.” According to the representative, the script reading took off to a positive start, with each actor eager and anticipative of the upcoming drama.
Jung Il Woo will be getting into a deadly love triangle with Han Ga In and Kim Soo Hyun, who not only plays the role of the King, but also his stepbrother.
Commenting on his casting, Jung Il Woo stated, “I felt pressured, especially since I had such little time to recover from the ending of my last drama. Still, I loved the plot of the drama and I felt charmed by my character, which aided in my decision to join the cast. I’ll be using the love I received in ‘Flower Boy Ramyun Shop‘ to work even harder and show better acting through ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun’. Please look forward to it.”

On December 29th, the Korea Broadcasting Camera Directors Association will be holding the ‘12th Korean Video Daejun‘. One of the categories will honor the most photogenic stars of the year in various areas of the entertainment industry.
The awards ceremony brings together camera directors that work at KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, and OBS, asking them to choose who they think had the best features (as caught on camera).

The ‘2011 MBC Entertainment Awards‘ has kicked off with the release of its eight ‘Best Couple Award’ nominations!
On December 22nd, MBC opened up their official homepage for the ceremony and uploaded the votes for the ‘Best Couple’ nominations. In the list are couples from ‘We Got Married‘, ‘High Kick 3‘, ‘Infinity Challenge‘, and even ‘I Am a Singer‘.
Fans were amused to see the unlikely couplings from their favorite shows and expressed anticipation over the results.

Big Bang‘s Seungri has revealed that he will be making a special cameo appearance in MBC‘s 50th anniversary drama, ‘Light and Shadow‘.
Seungri will play the role of a trainee who dreams of becoming a star. Confident and full of pride, he calls himself the ‘man of Yeosu’ (his hometown), and wins everyone over with his smooth ‘satoori’ and witty commentary. Seungri is actually from Gwangju, in the same district, so the role should be no problem for him to pull off.
Seungri expressed, “This is my first time acting in a formal drama and I’m looking forward to it a lot, especially since the character I’m playing reflects who I am in real life. I’d love it if our viewers would have fun watching it.”

MBC‘s ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ winner Baek Chung Gang and fellow contestants Kwon Ri Sae and David Oh will be performing at MBC’s ‘2011 Gayo Daejun Festival‘.
On December 17th, producers revealed that the audition show stars will be performing thrilling stages. Baek Chung Gang will get his own solo stage while Kwon Ri Sae and David Oh will perform as a duo.
Considering that Kwon Ri Sae and David Oh were also a ‘We Got Married‘ couple, fans are looking forward to seeing them back together on stage.
The awards festival is certainly proving to be a festival of the couples, as it was previously revealed that four couples of ‘We Got Married’ would be co-hosting the event as well.
‘We Got Married‘ fans, rejoice! It’s just been announced by MBC that popular couples from both the past and current seasons will be returning as MCs for MBC’s ‘2011 Gayo Daejun Festival‘.
On December 15th, MBC revealed, “Leeteuk, Nichkhun, Jo Kwon, Ga-In, Eunjung, Victoria, Kang Sora, and Lee Jang Woo will become the new couple MCs for the ’2011 Gayo Daejun Festival’.”
The entire line-up were or are currently couples on ‘We Got Married’, and were chosen for being some of the hottest stars this year. MBC explained that the group will be co-hosting the year-end ceremony together. Considering how most of the couples left earlier in the year, their reunion at the festival is becoming one of the most anticipated events of the year.
The ’2011 Gayo Daejun Festival’ will be held at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan on December 31st at 9:50 p.m. KST. The four hour long event will be visited by a total of 46 artists.

As the final music event of the year, the 2011 MBC Gayo Daejun Festival (or ‘MBC Korean Music Festival’) has unveiled a spectacular artist line-up fit to send off 2011 with a bang!
Though they may play siblings on-screen, this hasn’t stopped Lee Jong Suk from developing a crush on his ‘High Kick 3‘ co-star, f(x)‘s Krystal! The actor made a surprising confession on the latest episode of MBC’s ‘Section TV Entertainment News’, surprising viewers who watched the broadcast.
‘High Kick 3′ stars Lee Jong Suk, Krystal and Park Ha Sun made an appearance on the December 10th broadcast, sharing interesting details and stories from the film set. When the host Seul Gi asked Jong Suk why he and Krystal seemed like a couple even though they played brother and sister in the series, Ha Sun answered for him, saying, “That’s because he fancies Krystal.”
She continued, “He’d liked me before ‘High Kick 3′ began, but started to fancy Krystal once the series kicked off. Now he’s got his eyes on Kim Ji Won.”
Jong Suk quickly retorted, “No, it’s Krystal,” causing people on set to break out in laughter.
Rapper Tablo has opened up about the change in his mentality during his time away from the industry.
On November 25th, Tablo made his first radio appearance since his comeback through MBC FM4U‘s ‘Bae Chul Soo’s Music Camp‘, and updated listeners about his life.
During his forced hiatus, Tablo revealed that he couldn’t leave the house. “At first, I had many thoughts that I shouldn’t have. Bad thoughts, thoughts that did not help anyone,” he said.
He continued, “However, by listening to my album, you can hear that the tone of the songs change. They are a little more on the positive side. While reflecting, I realized that I had so many people and things around me to be thankful for; this made me start thinking more positively.”
