BIGBANG 『Pressured!? Opening up about their mindset and thoughts on their new album!』
A turning point album for BIGBANG
Q: Before this interview, you were on the Telephone Shocking corner of ‘Waratte Iitomo’ (Fuji TV). Weren’t you nervous?
V.I: We’ve been on the show ‘Waratte Iitomo!’ before, so we were not that nervous.
Q: Unfortunately, you guys didn’t get the phone strap.
V.I: Yeah. Since we are gyudon (beef bowl) maniacs, we expected the audience to love gyudon too. A little bit disappointing.
On January 6, Yahoo News Japan published a list made by Oricon, of the twelve most impressive concerts of 2011. The 2PM Arena Tour and the JYP Nation in Japan 2011 were included in the list.
These twelve concerts were chosen by Oricon’s Chief Editor who had the opportunity to assist to 124 events all along 2011. Among the names of Japanese artists such as EGO-WRAPPIN or Uverworld, the names of Korean concerts of 2PM and JYP Nation, stand out as he described them as: “Impressive and fantastic concerts with beautiful dances all along.”
He described both concerts separately as well. He declared: “JYP NATION in Japan 2011 at the Saitama Super Arena, I was fascinated by the producer. J.Y. Park’s performance… Each artist has a great potential and not just while singing. I enjoyed their collaborations and their dances. I felt that I was seeing one of the best entertainment shows. To be honest, at that moment i just listened to songs of 2PM and 2AM, but I was so into the concert that the three hours and a half passed by really quick. “What’s next?” I just enjoyed the whole concert.”
Regarding 2PM’s concert he mentioned: “2PM ARENA TOUR 2011 “REPUBLIC OF 2PM” at the Nihon Budokan, the great dance movements, the catchy melodies of every song and the stage prepared for the arena. Everything was impressive. Beauty, fierce, coolness. Every man in 2PM has his own character and I loved them all. They continue gaining fans in Japan, as we can see for their added dates to their concert. I’m sure that in 2012, they will climb even higher from where they are now.”
The boys of SHINee recently released their third single “LUCIFER” in Japan on the 12th, and they have rose towards the top of the Oricon chart along with famous rock band L‘Arc~en~Ciel, seizing the #2 spot!
Their previous Japanese singles “Replay” and “JULIETTE” along with the most recent “LUCIFER” have all ranked in the TOP 3 on the Oricon singles weekly chart. This marks the first time for a foreign artist to achieve this mark, meaning SHINee has set a new record.
Furthermore, on Oricon’s main page, it read, “This is the first time in the 44 year history of the Oricon that a foreign artist (soloist included) released three different singles, and all 3 have ranked within the TOP 3″, making this achievement all the more significant.
SHINee has plans to release their first full-length album “THE FIRST” on November 23rd, and their fame in Japan will only grow from here.
On October 4th, Oricon reported that Korean artists have made history by topping both its singles and album weekly charts simultaneously. T-ARA’s Japanese debut single, “Bo Peep Bo Peep”, released on September 28, sold about 50,000 copies in the first week and topped the singles chart. For albums, TVXQ’s first album after restarting their activities, “TONE”, released on the same day, sold around 205,000 copies in the first week and topped the weekly chart.
K-Pop groups are sweeping the Oricon charts this week! In addition to T-ara‘s “Bo Peep Bo Peep” topping the Oricon daily singles chart, TVXQ‘s “Tone” has also come out on top for the daily album sales chart!
TVXQ has sold a total of 105,484 copies of their “Tone” album thus far, ranking them at the top of the albums category. Right next to them this week are T-ara and 2NE1, who’s topped the weekly albums chart with ‘NOLZA‘, recording 26,334 in sales.
September 28th will surely be a memorable day for most K-Pop fans as stars continue their streak of success in Japan.
