Pop group Co-Ed has just revealed the name of their male sub-unit!
The male unit has decided to promote under the name, ‘SPEED‘. The name is meant to express the group’s determination to keep moving forward without slowing down.
As reported earlier, the unit will be made up of six members — the five original members [Taewoon, Jungwoo, Kwang Haeng, Sungmin, In Oh (Noori)] as well as the newly recruited Shin Jongkook from ‘Superstar K3‘.
SPEED will be releasing their remake of T-ara‘s “Lovey Dovey“, “Lovey Dovey Plus”, on February 9th and the music video will be revealed on the 10th, which will feature T-ara’s Hwayoung as well as her twin, 5dolls‘ Hyoyoung.
Recently, we reported that Kim Hyun Joong was offered the lead role in TV Chosun‘s upcoming drama, ‘Speed‘. It’s now been revealed that the star had declined the part due to a cramped schedule.
On December 7th, director Shin Je Kwang of KeyEast Entertainment said, “It’s a good work so we examined it, however, Kim Hyun Joong will be releasing a Japanese album in January and plans to move into Chinese promotions in February and March. Therefore, it has been decided that working on a drama with his current schedule would be too much.”
‘Speed’ is scheduled to air in March and April of next year. Yang Yun Ho (of KBS2TV‘s ‘Iris‘ fame) will directing this drama about competitive race car drivers and their crossed fates.
While Kim Hyun Joong has declined the offer, actor Lee Jung Jae and SNSD‘s Sooyoung have signed on for the series.

According to a broadcasting management representative, SS501 leader Kim Hyun Joong has been cast as the male lead in TV Chosun‘s new K-drama ‘Speed‘, written by Ma Jin Won along with Lee Dong Hwa and directed by Yang Yoon Ho.
The representative informed MyDaily during a phone interview on the 5th, “His agency has agreed to Kim Hyun Joong taking on the new role, but the formal contracts have yet to be signed at this point in time.”
Kim Hyun Joong’s agency KeyEast Entertainment remarked, “It is true that we received an offer and are optimistically looking through the script.”
‘Speed’ is a car-racing blockbuster drama and is receiving attention as it is directed by Yang Yun Ho who in the past has taken on projects such as ‘Wind Fighter‘, ‘Libera Me‘, as well as KBS 2TV‘s 2009 hit drama ‘IRIS‘.
Taking a page from SNSD‘s YoonA, fellow member Sooyoung was revealed to have accepted a leading role in an upcoming drama.
Sooyoung was cast in TV Chosun‘s new drama, “Speed“, which delves into the world of competitive race car driving. Sooyoung will play the role of ‘Seo Ji Won‘, an orthopedist and team doctor of racing team ‘CKins’. With her tall height and lovely face, her character is much beloved and respected. Though she’s a cheerful person, her character also carries deep scars from losing her parents in a car accident when she was younger.
The director of “Iris“, director Yang Yun Ho, will be leading this production, which starts filming in December. Sooyoung will be working alongside actors Lee Jung Jae and Yoo Ah In.
The industry is buzzing with anticipation for Sooyoung’s leading role, as she already showed her potential as an actress through the 2008 KBS2TV sitcom, “Unstoppable Marriage“, and the film “Romance Comic“. She also made a short cameo in the SBS drama “Paradise Ranch“.
