B.A.P.’s Bang Yong Guk discusses the differences between “Power” and “Warrior”

Having returned with a strong new comeback track titled “Power“, the boys of B.A.P. have been making their rounds on the first week of comeback stages.

After ‘Music Core‘, leader Bang Yong Guk sat down with reporters to share his thoughts on the group’s comeback.

Bang Yong Guk began, “It’s not something we’ve been preparing for a long time for, but we did work really hard to show improvement for our fans. This album is extremely meaningful for us in that way.”

He continued, “Compared to our debut track, ‘Warrior‘, our choreography has gotten a lot more fierce. We probably rehearsed longer for ‘Power’ than ‘Warrior’ since there were a lot of complex, detailed moves we had to pay attention to. And since the choreography gets violent at times, the members would bump into each other often. It hurt a lot, but it was really fun.”

Big Bang’s staying power, “Fantastic Baby” in Top 10 on music charts for 10 consecutive weeks

Big Bang once again proves that they are the kings of K-Pop.

Their fifth mini-album ‘ALIVE‘ has been acknowledged for its strong staying power, as “Fantastic Baby” still remains on the charts 10 weeks after its release. ”Fantastic Baby” is #8 on Melon, #9 on Mnet.com and #10 on Olleh Music.

Representatives from the music industry remarked, “In the music market, new albums get shuffled around and the life span of songs on music charts are extremely short. There are many songs that seize the #1 spot in real time, but there are very few that remain within the Top 10 for more than 2 weeks.”

“Big Bang’s long 2-month run is truly a rare sight,” they continued.

Big Bang’s hits “Blue“, “Fantastic Baby”, “Bad Boy“, “Ain’t No Fun“, and “Love Dust” all ranked within the Top 10 on the various Korean music sites.

Will YG Entertainment’s new girl group be like Girls’ Generation or 2NE1?

Earlier this year, YG Entertainment caused a big storm in the media when it announced that it was preparing for the debut of a new girl group. Since YG serves as a home to worldwide K-pop stars such as Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, Tablo, and more, it came as no surprise that the group would garner massive attention.

The announcement that the group would feature more than 7 members caused a firestorm of comparisons to industry established groups such as Girls’ Generation, as well as T-ara and After School, groups which recently saw the expansion of members to 9. In addition to theses comparisons, much debate is held over the stylistic and artistic direction of the group in relation to the much celebrated YG girl group, 2NE1.

While YG is currently mum on the details of the group, it is certain that the group will feature two previous ‘Superstar K‘ contestants, Kim Eun Bi and Euna Kim. Furthermore, the unexpected photo release of mystery girl Jenny Kim of the Netherlands added to the rising anticipation for the group. Industry veterans have made the analysis that this steady flow of unannounced leaks is YG Entertainment’s way of gauging the public response in order to better determine and formulate the characteristics of the group.

When 2NE1 made their debut, the public response was no less than explosive. With an energetic shout of “Nolza!“, the fearsome four swept the charts with a combination of melodic and addictive sounds with powerful performances.

Streets of Japan covered with INFINITE’s ‘Be Mine’ promos

INFINITE is off to a great start with the release of their second Japanese single, ‘Be Mine‘!

On April 18th, the boys landed second on the Oricon daily singles chart on the day of its release and is still securely in second place as of the 19th. The boys were beat out by Mr. Children, a group that is considered Japan’s national group, so the feat is still a remarkable one for INFINITE.

Large LED screens featuring INFINITE’s pictures are also being displayed around the streets of Tokyo. Shibuya also has four LED screens in addition to promotional trucks running through the city, making it look as if Japan is quite literally covered in INFINITE.

Their success shouldn’t be too much of a surprise considering the boys swept the pre-order charts with all three versions of their single coming in at #1, #2, and #3 on Tower Records‘ daily sales chart, and Japan’s biggest music website, ‘music.jp‘, where the boys ranked all three of their songs on the weekly albums chart in the top three.
